UK Fundraiser needed – Maternity cover contract

We are looking for a self-motivated, personable, experienced individual to work two days a week as a Fundraiser for a nine month maternity cover contract.

This is a varied role extending through working with Trusts and Foundations to Community Fundraising. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, willing to occasionally work out of office hours and be able to respond to changing priorities. You will be expected to meet fund-raising targets set by the UK Trustees.

This is a home based role on a self-employed basis.

Criteria

Essential experience

  • Trust fundraising
  • Individual giving
  • Fundraising appeals
  • A track record of meeting targets
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Managing online fundraising, thanking and reporting through Virgin Money Giving

Desired experience

  • Working for an overseas partner charity
  • Website and social media management
  • Events organisation
  • Community fundraising
  • Digital fundraising
  • Database experience (ideally Salesforce)

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Making funding applications to Charitable Trusts and regular up-dating reporting
  • Managing the UK side of our Malawian child sponsorship programme
  • Major and Individual donor – fundraising and relationship building
  • Events planning
  • Talks to Clubs (eg Rotary) and Groups, fundraising and liaison
  • Supporting individual fundraisers
  • Social media – including website, blog, Facebook and Twitter
  • Budgets – managing budgets with variable exchange rates

Other areas of responsibility

  • Community fundraising and liaison – particularly with schools and churches
  • Maintaining the charity’s database
  • Liaising and reporting to the UK Trustees
  • Liaising with the team in Malawi

Reports to: Trustee in charge of fundraising

Salary: £85 per day

Days of work: 16 hours/2 days per week NB. Some evening and weekend work will be required and this can be claimed back in-lieu

Length of contract: Maternity Cover (9 month, with 1 month probation period)

Place of Work: Home-based, you will need access to Wi-Fi, laptop/computer and phone. Some UK travel is required and ideally you will have a full driving licence. Mileage can be claimed at 22p per mile
